Working in a call centre…
Working in a call centre is something that I do quite allot of the time. I generally work for a company called Flying Flowers (check it out at flying flowers.com) and whilst working here, I have been conducting a small Psychological experiment, the results of which sincerely interest me.
I have been asking the following question to 100 people across the UK:
“There are two types of people - those who come into a room and say, “Well, here I am!” and those who come in and say, ‘Ah, there you are.’” - Frederick L. Collins
Which type are you?
Here are the results.
48% of people said that they would say “Ah, there you are!” when they walked into a room.
52% of people said that they would say “Here I am!” when they walked into a room.
The beauty of this question is that their awnser relies solely on how they percive the question. As a standard most people will attempt to remmeber a time in which the question applied to them, thus they will say “Here I am!”.
However the low percentage that I asked instead of thinking about a situation, would think about the psychology behind their awnser and attempt to awnser in a way in which they belive I want to hear.
Now you would be forgiven for thinking, why the hell should I care? And frankly you don’t really need too.
But I conducted this experiment, not to really find out the awnser, because I allready knew that it would be around 50/50. But I asked it, to see how people would react when faced with a question they have to think about, in unfamiliar circumstances.
